What Is Social Anxiety?

Sadly, social anxiety is a severe problem that is very hard to get rid of.

Social anxiety disorder is a long-lasting and overwhelming fear of social situations. [1]

Social Anxiety

Social Anxiety

I often hear people talking about being anxious, being afraid of going out, and speaking to people.

Social anxiety is a serious problem, but a solvable one.

In the past months, I got a lot of emails from people asking me about nootropics for social anxiety.

If you wonder what nootropics and anxiety have in common, don't worry, I'll explain it soon.

But it wasn’t until recently when a friend of mine told me how anxious he feels every time he has to do networking and talk to random, unknown people.

Since I wanted to help him, I took the time to listen to him, try to understand what’s happening and find a solution.

During this process, I came across a lot of effective nootropics for anxiety.

So I’ve decided to write this blog post and share the best nootropics for anxiety with you.

Let's find out the best nootropic for social anxiety.

Best Nootropics For Anxiety

During my research, I was searching for the best nootropics for social anxiety.

I’ve decided to avoid all supplements that “might help, but have no proven effects.”

Since there is a lack of research, I’ve decided to write down only those nootropics that have scientifically proven benefits.

Now, before you decide on supplementing any of them, I always recommend making detailed research yourself, or, even better, talking to your doctor.

Especially if you are taking any medicine.

L-THEANINE

L-Theanine is believed to be one of the most effective supplements (or nootropics) for social anxiety. [2]

It’s an amino acid that can be found in tea leaves (especially in green tea).

L-Theanine

L-Theanine benefits

Why is L-Theanine so effective?

  1. It supports GABA levels and produces a calming effect. So, L-Theanine promotes a state of calmness and relaxation, which makes any social activity much easier
  2. L-Theanine increases alpha brain waves, which are associated with the state of relaxation
  3. L-Theanine is also involved in the dopamine and serotonin secretion

So, supplementing L-Theanine (or drinking green tea before a social activity) can help you out.

Recommended daily dosage: 200 mg of L-Theanine (or drink a big cup of tea before an activity); also, you can combine it with caffeine for more energy (100 mg of caffeine + 200 mg of L-Theanine)

L-TYROSINE

L-Tyrosine is another amino acid that can help us if we have issues with social anxiety.

What’s the role of this amino acid in our brain?

Well, it helps our brain to create neurotransmitters, which of course get depleted during stressful social activities. [3]

L-Tyrosine is also known to improve our mood and reduce stress.

Now imagine how helpful can this be if you are anxious?

Recommended daily dosage: Up to 2 grams/day, usually 500 mg/day (you can take it 60 min before a stressful social activity)

ASHWAGANDHA

Ashwagandha is a popular adaptogen herb, native to India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. It has been used for centuries in India. [5]

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha Benefits

This herb is very potent and can provide a whole list of proven benefits:

  1. It can help to decrease stress and anxiety
  2. It can boost cognition and concentration
  3. It can increase our energy

A study that was done on people with anxiety disorders showed that supplementing 300 mg of Ashwagandha twice daily over eight weeks was associated with a 56.5% reduction in anxiety symptoms. [5]

So, Ashwagandha is one of the herbs that should definitely “be on the menu” if you want to help yourself get rid of anxiety.

Recommended dosage: 300 – 500 mg/day

BACOPA MONNIERI

Bacopa Monnieri is another adaptogen herb (one of my favorites) that was already used in the 6th century by scholars to help them improve their memory. [6]

But what else is Bacopa Monnieri useful for? You guessed it, Bacopa can help to reduce anxiety and even stress.

And it is considered a very safe nootropic to supplement.

Recommended daily dosage: 300 mg/day

GINSENG

Ginseng (especially Panax Ginseng) is a herb that goes very well with other adaptogens, and it can also provide synergic effect when combined with caffeine. [7]

Panax Ginseng

Panax Ginseng

Besides its effects on boosting your focus and cognition, Panax Ginseng is often used as a supplement for decreasing stress and anxiety.

Does this sound like a nootropic for you?

Recommended daily dosage: 200 – 400 mg/day (up to 2 times)

*Ginseng, Ashwagandha, and Bacopa Monnieri are considered the best herbs for social anxiety.

LION'S MANE MUSHROOM

Lion’s Mane Mushroom is one of the nootropics that I cannot stop recommending.

Lion's Mane

Lion's Mane Benefits

It provides a whole range of benefits (from boosting brain nerve growth factor to improving our cognition), but what we are most interested in are its antidepressant effects.

There was a study done on animals that showed that supplementing Lion’s Mane Mushroom can decrease depression, but also help with reducing anxiety. [8]

While I wouldn’t take it just as an individual compound, I would suggest combining it with other nootropics for social anxiety that we already mentioned.

Recommended daily dosage: From 500 – 1000 mg/up to 3 times per day

ANIRACETAM

Aniracetam comes from a family or racetams, which are believed to be “original nootropics.” [4]

This supplement is known to have anti-anxiety benefits, which makes it useful for helping with social anxiety.

It can also reduce stress.

The combination of both benefits makes it a very potent, effective, and popular nootropic.

Recommended daily dosage: 500 – 750 mg/twice per day

Best Nootropic Stack For Anxiety

As I said before, all the mentioned nootropics can be very effective as individual compounds.

But what happens if we combine them in a nootropic stack and take them together (at least some of them)?

best nootropic stack for anxiety

Well, we can expect much stronger and better effects!

That’s where best supplements for social anxiety come into play.

I’ve basically tried 90%+ of all nootropic stacks that exist on the market (I know, I’m slightly crazy) and I can honestly tell you which stacks stand out in my opinion.

Currently, I'd share with you my favorite and the best anti anxiety stack.

It's not just my favorite, but it's considered the best nootropic stack for anxiety.

(Please keep in mind I am NOT sponsored by any of the brands!)

Qualia Mind

For treating social anxiety (or to help you get relaxed, focus, and in a better mood before going out) Qualia Mind is the best nootropic stack for anxiety.

Qualia Mind

It contains most of the compounds mentioned before, and there are at least 20+ other ingredients in the stack.

It’s very effective and people simply love it.

Keep in mind Qualia Mind was not developed only to help you with social anxiety, but it provides ultimate brain support.

It does contain caffeine, but there is a caffeine free version available as well.

Your Inception Final Recommendation

Your Inception Guarantee

Your Inception recommends supplementing nootropics for anxiety.

We just covered a very important topic – we talked about the best nootropics for social anxiety.

Luckily, there are many individual compounds available.

But in order to get the best benefits, I always recommended taking more supplements together.

Therefore, Qualia Mind is a supplement to go for.

Now, please keep in mind nootropics are not magical pills (I mention this in probably every single post that I write), so don’t expect magical benefits after you take 1-2 capsules of your desired supplement.

Nootropics take some time to really “kick-in” and provide the benefits. At least most of them.

Having said this, it doesn’t mean you’ll take the pills and nothing is going to happen.

Just the contrary, it will, but it might take a while until you really feel it.

Hope this makes sense.

Be smart, follow the recommended dosages and I’m sure your social issues are issues of the past.
