Sleep aids are a popular go-to solution for people suffering from common sleep issues. There are many such products on the market, but our focus today is a sleep supplement that goes by the name of NoctuRest.
Devised by the company Rejuvica Health, NoctuRest is marketed as a sleep aid sold in liquid form and one that is to be taken about half an hour before going to bed. It is filled with a plethora of sleep-related ingredients, all popular choices, and promises to promote restful sleep.
But how well does this promise hold? Let’s find out in our comprehensive NoctuRest review below.
What is NoctuRest?
NoctuRest is a liquid formula sleep supplement that helps users fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer. It uses a combination of three nutrients and five herbal extracts that work together to bring the promised results.
Rejuvica Health claims that their liquid formula has an edge over other forms of sleep aides such as capsules, pills, or tablets in terms of superior absorbability.
The formula is available in raspberry flavor alone with a base of non-GMO vegetable glycerin and filtered water. It is an easy to use sleep aid where you place a few drops of the liquid amounting to 1.2 mL on the tongue. Hold these in place before swallowing.
Among the ingredients used, you will come across popular names like magnesium citrate, theanine, and melatonin for which manufacturers indicate the amounts used. However, the herbal extracts used have been labeled collectively as a proprietary blend which, to us, signals a red flag of sorts.
We feel that proprietary blends are something to stay away from as these do not indicate the dosage of ingredients used, so become a natural concern for safety.
That said, Rejuvica Health maintains that all ingredients used in their liquid formula are non-toxic and safe for human consumption. Customer reviews of the product also show that most users do not experience any severe side effects.
For greater clarification as to why we have our reservations regarding this product, here is a look at its list of ingredients:
Magnesium is a mineral known for generating sleep-inducing properties. On a chemical level, magnesium is helpful for activating the parasympathetic nervous system by regulating both neurotransmitters and regulating melatonin production.
In addition, it has the potential to bind GABA receptors which helps quiet down nerve activity. Together, these two mechanisms can be seen as helpful in calming the mind and body and preparing you for sleep.
Along with getting you ready to doze off, magnesium can also help you with achieving deep, natural sleep, improving the quality of your sleep experience.
So, while there is definitely some promise here with this ingredient, our concern remains its low dosage of 20 mg which likely won’t do much for bringing about long-lasting restful sleep. If anything, you would need a much larger dose than that to enjoy the sleep-inducing benefits of magnesium.
Theanine is an amino acid found in both green and black tea leaves and has shown properties that promote relaxation such as reducing resting heart rate.
It can potentially facilitate sleep by boosting GABA levels and those of other calming brain chemicals. It can also regulate excitatory brain chemicals that are typically associated with stress and anxiety.
In this way, theanine can help promote sleep not so much by acting as a sedative, but by lowering anxiety and boosting relaxation.
Once again, theanine is a promising ingredient for use in a sleep aid, but the problem of underdosing remains consistent. The mere 50 mg of theanine per NoctuRest serving is too low to present any noticeable results in sleep onset or quality.
The hormone melatonin governs the natural sleep cycle with levels being the highest at night. Its potency lies in its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and bring on drowsiness to fall asleep faster.
Melatonin also keeps you in a state of deep sleep for longer and thus improves both the quality and quantity of sleep you get.
Here, the NoctuRest formula seems to have gotten their dose of melatonin right at 3 mg which is plenty to be effective in one serving. However, the drawback here is the synthetic version of this hormone rather than the natural stuff.
Valerian root is a rather common ingredient in many natural sleep aids found today. Yet, despite its popularity, there is limited research to verify its role in sleep enhancement.
Some research shows it to act as a sedative on the brain and nervous system while some point to its ability to reduce the amount of time it takes to fall asleep.
When used in combination with other herbs like hops and lemon balm, it may potentially improve sleep. However, suggested doses of 400-900 mg of this herb seem to work best for sleep which is nowhere near to what is found in this NoctuRest formula.
There is some indication of passionflower’s ability to relieve insomnia and anxiety by boosting GABA levels and lowering brain activity. Passionflower shares these traits with other sleep supplements used for restoring or improving sleep quality.
Typically, passionflower has been used as a medicinal tea to help relax and fall asleep. To extract its active properties, it is infused with a recommended dose of 6-10 grams per dose.
However, when used in NoctuRest, the manufacturers at Rejuvica Health do not indicate its quantity included which renders its effectiveness questionable.
Another herbal sleeping aid that is used to help relieve stress, lemon balm shows soothing properties. Some research shows it to reduce anxiety symptoms such as nervousness and excitability which may help with falling and staying asleep better.
Just like the aforementioned herbs, lemon balm is also taken as a tea before going to bed and the recommended dose sits at 300 mg of standardized lemon balm extract. Or else, it may be combined with valerian root extract for maximum potency.
The various combinations of these herbs seem potent enough to be used as natural sleep aids, but if you don’t know how much you take, then it becomes difficult to gauge its potency.
NoctuRest fails to mention the quantity of lemon balm used in their formula so there’s really no way to tell how much you may be getting. Or, if it is doing anything to help you fall asleep.
Hops is a well-known sleep supplement with mild sedative properties. It is used as fast-acting sleep aids given their ability to enhance GABA levels in the brain.
Research on hops also shows its ability to lower body temperature. To some extent, it is this mechanism that helps induce drowsiness and is important in triggering the sleep process.
Lab research shows hops to contain sleep-promoting compounds, but the results of the clinical trials are not clear-cut.
Most of the research on hops has been done in combination with other substances, especially valerian. As such, results show that while hops may be used in isolation, they seem to be most effective when used in combination with valerian.
In clinical research, the use of hops as an aid to sleep has been administered in doses of 1.5 to 2 mg. And when used with valerian, hops dosage has been studied at 60 mg for treating insomnia.
But in the case of NoctuRest, with a proprietary blend size of 1.23 mL, getting enough hops into this Rejuvica Health formula doesn’t seem possible.
Chamomile is perhaps better known as a calming tea that shows the potential to improve the quality of sleep.
It owes this property to an antioxidant called apigenin that binds to certain brain receptors that may promote sleep and reduce insomnia.
It has primarily been used to manage insomnia through mild sedation where apigenin helps calm and relax the muscles. Of the different ways of using chamomile effectively, tea and essential oil aromatherapy seem to be the most popular.
Of the few studies done on the subject, the jury is still out there on the efficacy of chamomile for sleep benefits.
Results from one study show that 270 mg of chamomile extract may moderately improve sleep in adults with chronic insomnia but that is not a number you are likely to get in the NoctuRest formula.
Given the contradictory research results and inconclusive evidence regarding chamomile, it can at best be considered a modest sleep aid and nothing more. Further studies are still needed to ascertain its role in sleep promotion.
NoctuRest Side Effects
In general, sleep aids using the same ingredients as NoctuRest are considered safe if taken as directed.
Given the sedative natures of the active compounds of these ingredients it is recommended to never use them along with other sedative medication.
Because the doses are so minimal there is really not much concern for side effects. The only reported side effects have been mild gastrointestinal discomfort such as diarrhea, nausea, or stomach pain.
In cases where issues like headaches or nervousness have been observed, the problem usually goes away by discontinuing the product.
However, for people who may be allergic to any of the ingredients in NoctuRest, this product is not recommended.
On the upside, the formula only uses non-GMO vegetable glycerin and filtered spring water. It is gluten, soy, and alcohol-free formula. And if for some reason, should buyers wish to return this product, there is a hassle-free money back guarantee.
This product from Rejuvica Health fails to impress on many fronts. NoctuRest seems to be a subpar sleep aid despite using some promising ingredients.
The biggest problem we have in taking this supplement seriously is its blatant lack of information regarding its herbal compounds.
Although every herb used in this formula shows promise in promoting sleep patterns, there is no way to know how much you are getting with each dose. The manufacturers at Rejuvica Health have kept this a mystery which makes this product lose much of its credibility.
Another concern for us is that the herbs used here all come from traditional medicine with very limited clinical data to back their sleep-enhancing properties. In the absence of such empirical evidence we find it hard to recommend this supplement as a quality sleep aid.
Taste-wise, there is only one flavor available which may not be to everyone’s liking.
Customer reviews reading this product are a mixed bag. People who are satisfied with their purchase purport NoctuRest to yield the promised benefits in as little as 30 minutes after consumption.
Others who have left less than stellar reviews find the product ineffective and lacking results.
Another demographic who found the sleep aid to improve their ability to fall asleep commented that their sleep quality remained unaffected even after taking NoctuRest.
Where To Buy NoctuRest?

However, check our final verdict before you order this sleep supplement.
As mentioned above, we find this sleep aid lacking in many areas so we do not recommend it.
That said, NoctuRest isn’t a totally lost cause for it does pack in a variety of popular ingredients long associated with improving sleep, although many lack clinical data.
You get some melatonin and magnesium to help resolve sleep-related issues. Plus, there is some theanine presenting benefits of relaxing the mind and body before sleep.
But this is where the benefits, if any, stop. The low doses of these ingredients won’t do any good in bringing on sleep or staying asleep.
But the biggest drawback is the proprietary blend composition which leaves users completely in the dark about the amounts and concentrations used or the potency of this product. All in all, the total serving size of 1.23 mL proprietary blend may lack the punch required to see helpful results.
The only reason we see why anyone would opt for this is when people prefer liquid delivery to pills, tablets or capsules.
