Let’s have a look at the most important benefits of phosphatidylserine.
1. Phosphatidylserine Improves Memory
Phosphatidylserine is often taken for improving memory.
While there is a lack of studies showing that PS is effective for healthy people, I’ve found a very important study published in Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Nutrition, which found that people with cognitive impairment who are treated with phosphatidylserine had a significant memory improvement in just 6 months.
The memory improvement should be seen in other areas as well such as faster learning for example.
2. Phosphatidylserine Helps With Depression And Stress
One of the main reasons why people supplement phosphatidylserine is because it can influence our mood.
Actually, there was a study done in 2015 on people with major depression.
I found that people who were given phosphatidylserine for the period of 12 weeks had their depression decreased and in general felt much better.
While more studies have to be done, early research seems very promising.
3. Phosphatidylserine And ADHD
Early research shows that supplementing phosphatidylserine can be beneficial for people with ADHD.
There was a study done on 200 children with ADHD. After a 15-week treatment with phosphatidylserine, researchers have seen a greater reduction in impulsive behavior and a much better mood in children compared to the placebo.
Besides those 3 major benefits, there are other studies that show phosphatidylserine can be beneficial for improving physical performance, it could help with stress, and much more.
However, more research has to be conducted to confirm all other potential benefits.
