Overview

A couple of weeks ago, we received 3 packs of Lucy nicotine gum products. Lucy is a gum that was created as a cleaner and better alternative to smoking cigarettes.

This is a high-quality nicotine gum that contains 4 mg of nicotine. It was developed by David Renteln, the co-founder of Soylent. He got the idea to create a product that would help people stop smoking.

With 3 pieces of beautifully-designed packs, exciting flavor offerings, and excellent user experience, it seems that Lucy represents a great alternative to smoking. To see if that’s true, we decided to test Lucy out.

While we are entirely against smoking, we were quite surprised by the results of chewing Lucy.

Let us share with you what happened.

Our Experience

We started this test by carefully reading the instructions printed on the packaging. After a quick double-check, we decided to try the first taste – a piece of Cinnamon flavored gum. Here is what we did:

  1. We chewed the gum for about 20-30 times (a bit more than the recommended 10 times)
  2. Then we parked it between our gums and cheek
  3. We left it there for about 10 minutes, and then we chewed it again
  4. After about 20-30 minutes, we threw it out

We repeat the process on the two other flavors: pomegranate, and mint.

So, what happened?

First of all, we can say that all the gums (cinnamon, pomegranate, and mint) taste delicious. The taste was much better than expected. We also liked the gum texture and the overall feeling.

After the first 10 minutes, we didn’t really feel much of a difference, but when we chewed it again and placed it back between our gums and cheek, we started feeling the effects of nicotine.

After about 20 minutes, we were very relaxed and focused. Without any doubt, we felt like being in a flow of positive thoughts, motivation, and productivity.

It was a great feeling, similar to our other experiences with different types of nicotine. After about 30 minutes, we felt that the effects were getting too strong, so we decided to throw the gum out. Keep in mind that we rarely use nicotine, so we are not used to such dosages of nicotine products.

Is there anything we didn’t like?

In general, our experience was far better than expected. However, keep in mind that this delicious gum taste is not long-lasting. It stays with you only for a couple of minutes – after that, it is all nicotine.

The taste of nicotine feels, based on our experience, like a slightly hot or burning taste. The brand explains it as “tingle or peppery taste,” which we would agree with.

So, once it starts to tingle, this is a reminder to stop chewing the gum and park it back. If you don’t (and if you are not used to nicotine), you can eventually start feeling sick. So you need to follow the recommendations.

Benefits

So, what kind of benefits can you expect from a nicotine gum?

Nicotine is an alkaloid that naturally occurs in tobacco, but it is also found in many other plants. As such, it can activate acetylcholine receptors, it works as an anti-estrogenic compound, it may provide fat-burning effects, and even improve cognition.

We don’t know the optimal daily dosage of nicotine, but most nicotine gums contain between 2 and 4 mg of nicotine.

Side Effects

Nicotine is a powerful compound that can provide lots of benefits but can also come with some adverse side effects.

The most common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Change in taste
  • Sweating
  • Diarrhea

Keep in mind that nicotine is addictive, so we don’t recommend chewing lucy’s gums daily.

If you have other health conditions, consult your Physician to avoid side effects or complications.

Usage

As you probably noticed, Lucy is not a regular chewing gum. To get the most out of it and avoid unwanted side effects, here is how you should chew it:

  • Chew the gum about 10 times until it starts to tingle
  • Park it between your gums and cheek. This helps the nicotine to absorb into your bloodstream
  • Repeat the process as the tingling fades away

Regular smokers or people who are used to nicotine can probably repeat the process several times. If you are new and just want to try it, go easy on it to avoid sickness.
