If you are searching for an affordable nootropic supplement, Qualia Focus might be the product for you. Developed by Neurohacker Collective, this premium supplement contains most of the best nootropics from Qualia Mind, but it is almost half the price. Is Qualia Focus worth supplementing? Read my comprehensive Qualia Focus review.

What Is Qualia Focus?

Qualia Focus Review

Qualia Focus is a nootropic supplement for improving focus, reasoning, and mental clarity. It stands out with staggering 24 different nootropics – vitamins, amino acids, adaptogens, mushrooms, and other compounds.

Apart from its main benefits, it is a great supplement that supports neuron development. It also elevates energy and promotes neurogenesis.

It is a renewed and slightly changed product coming from the Neurohacker Collective family. Compared to its older brother Qualia Mind, Focus still contains the essential ingredients, but it is a more affordable version.

Neurohacker Collective recently renamed Qualia Focus to Qualia Mind Essentials, but most people still know the product by its original name.

Qualia Focus was introduced to the market after its predecessor, Qualia Mind, already gained a great reputation.

So, is it worth taking? Let’s first check its benefits.

Qualia Focus Benefits

Qualia Focus contains a unique mixture of nootropic compounds, neuro-vitamins, adaptogen extracts, amino acids, and choline donors.

It was developed to:

  1. Support focus & concentration
  2. Boost energy
  3. Promote memory
  4. Support neurogenesis

Let’s check the benefits in detail.

Focus And Concentration

As the name says, Qualia Focus was designed and developed to enhance your focus and concentration. With compounds like organic Coffeeberry and forskolin, it it easier to get in the flow state and stay in it for a longer period with this supplement.

L-theanine triggers the release of alpha waves, which enhance focus and creativity. [*] With added caffeine, you will get a smooth focus boost that will last for hours.

Energy Boost

Caffeine is the world’s most widely used psychoactive drug and a stimulant. [*] It is used for boosting energy levels and enhancing cognition. Together with other compounds, it makes you feel more energized without the adverse side effects of caffeine. There is also theobromine in Qualia Focus, which is another potent stimulant.

Because of these compounds, Qualia Focus delivers a mild energy boost.

Memory And Learning

Qualia Focus contains many ingredients (like alpha GPC) that increase the production of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter for long-term memory and learning. The mix of potent nootropics increases the production and slows the breakdown of acetylcholine. [*]

Because of that, Qualia Focus is an excellent supplement if you want to boost memory and enhance learning.

Neurogenesis And Neuroprotecing

Neurogenesis is the brain process that makes new neurons. It wasn’t until recently that scientists discovered the brains’ ability to regenerate and create new neurons. This process is vital for the elderly, who are in faster cognitive decline. The right nootropics can help them regenerate brain and offer neuroprotection.

Some compounds in the Qualia Focus increase the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which plays an important role in neuroplasticity.

Other compounds increase the levels of adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), which is important in strenghtening connections between neurons.

Lastly, certain compounds in Qualia Focus offer anti-inflammatory benefits which protect your brain from toxicity and stress.

As you can see, Qualia Focus offers many benefits, but can you actually feel the benefits? Does it work?

My Experience

My experience with Qualia Focus went precisely as planned. I tried it on several occasions, and the longest uninterrupted test period lasted 2 weeks.

Here is what happened during the test.

I started the test by taking five capsules per day. After a few days, I increased the dosage to seven pills. In the last few days, I even took nine capsules.

First of all, I couldn’t feel too many benefits when I took five capsules, but the effects were much stronger with seven and nine capsules. I got a mild energy boost that lasted for about 4 hours. I also felt more focused, motivated, and engaged in my work.

After about 10 days, my mood started improving, and I had no brain fog whatsoever.

No matter how many capsules I took, I experienced no undesired side effects, even though I was slightly worried about taking 9 capsules. To prevent any potential issues, I always took the capsules with food.

Overall, my experience with Qualia Focus was great. I felt the benefits, I was more focused, and most importantly, I was way more productive. I cannot tell if my memory improved in such a short period.

The only thing I didn’t like about Qualia Focus was the number of capsules I had to take daily. Taking five capsules was somewhat ok, but nine capsules were a bit too much for me.

Qualia Focus

Does This Brain Formula Work?

There is no doubt that this nootropic supplement provides the benefits it promises.

Based on my experience, and the experience of many people that tried it, this is an amazing supplement for its price.

It is not the most advanced nor the best nootropic supplement on the market, but it will be hard to beat it at its price.

By taking the recommended daily dosage of 5-7 capsules, your focus should improve, and you should feel more alert. Besides, there is a chance that it will positively influence your memory.

I suggest taking Qualia Focus for at least a month before judging its effects. Speaking of the effects, let’s check which ingredients are responsible for them.

Qualia Focus Ingredients

It is essential to say that the formula is open-sourced, vegan-friendly, non-GMO, and even gluten-free.

Now let’s check out the ingredients it contains.

  • Ginkgo biloba Leaf Extract, 50 mg
  • Coleus forskohlii Root Extract, 20 mg
  • Huperzine A, 50 mcg

If we take a closer look at what each ingredient adds to the formula, we can understand how this supplement can benefit our focus and mental clarity.

Bacopa Monnieri is an adaptogen herb that works as a memory enhancer. It can also improve learning. It can also protect your brain health from oxidative damage. Bacopa Monnieri has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries, which makes it a potent and safe nootropic.

Alpha GPC (alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine) is a choline compound known for increasing acetylcholine in our brains. Acetylcholine has a positive effect on memory and thinking functions. By definition, Alpha GPC (Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline) is a choline donor. Besides its effects on acetylcholine, it also combats fatigue and regulates mood. [*][*]

Carnitine is an amino acid that transports fats into the mitochondria to be used for energy. Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is a type of carnitine that can cross the blood-brain barrier. [*]

By crossing the barrier, it improves cognitive function and protects the brain from toxins. [*] [*]

Studies done on animals show that ALCAR improves memory and learning, but there is insufficient evidence to support these effects in people.

Tyrosine is an amino acid that makes two important neurotransmitters – dopamine and norepinephrine. Clinical trials show that supplementing l-tyrosine improves cognitive performance in individuals during stressful activities. [*] [*]

L-tyrosine is effective during stressful activities and for people who are often under severe pressure.

L-Theanine is an amino acid that increases relaxation, reduces anxiety, and enhances focus. [*] Experts believe this amino aid increases the amount of GABA neurotransmitters, responsible for calming effects. It can also enhance alpha brain waves, which are responsible for relaxation. [*]

When L-theanine is combined with caffeine, the effects of caffeine are prolonged while the negative side effects are minimized. That’s why I often recommend combining both nootropics.

Uridine-5-Monophosphate disodium is a nucleic acid. It has cognitive enhancing properties such as improving memory and attention. Limited research shows that supplementing uridine can promote the growth of new connections between neurons. [*]

We lack clinical trials on humans to confirm its effects.

Taurine is an amino sulfonic acid found throughout the body and plays an important role in heart, brain, and muscle health. Studies in rats show that it reduces anxiety. [*] Other studies suggest that taurine may stimulate the grown of new neuron connections. [*

We still lack clinical trials to determine its effects on brain health and cognition.

Rhodiola Rosea is an adaptogen herb used for treating anxiety. [*] It also helps with attention, well-being, fatigue. Recent studies show it is effective for enhancing cognition. [*]

You can combine it with Bacopa Monnieri and other adaptogen herbs for stronger effects.

Theobromine is a methylxanthine and a central nervous system stimulant. [*] Structurally is similar to caffeine, but it is less potent. It works by blocking adenosine receptors, which increases alertness. [*] It can also speed up our reaction times.

Mucuna Pruriens (Velvet Bean) is a nootropic that has been used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. It contains 50% of L-Dopa, which is a dopamine precursor. [*] Due to that, it provides a sustained focus and motivation. It also has neuroprotective properties, it regulates growth hormones, and it supports our mood.

Sadly, we still lack human studies to confirm its efficacy and safety.

Celastrus paniculatus is a nootropic that has been traditionally used in Ayurveda. It has neuroprotective benefits, and it works as an antioxidant. It can improve memory and learning skills. [*]

Huperzine A is a natural alkaloid compound that is extracted from the plant Huperzia Serrata. It prevents the disintegration of acetylcholine, which is vital for learning and memory. Its positive effects are boosting memory and energy, and it also increases alertness. [*]

Ginkgo Biloba is the most commonly ingested herb for cognition. It is popular among the elderly due to its anti-aging effects. Clinical studies show that it can slow down cognition in people in cognitive decline. [*] It also improves memory. [*

We lack studies on a population of healthy adults.

Coleus Forskohlii is an adaptogen herb that contains compound forskolin. Forskolin increases cAMP levels, which may increase the brain’s ability to form new connections. [*] It may protect against oxidative stress, help with inflammation, and increase acetylcholine levels. [*]

It is known for its effects on fat loss, but it is often used as a learning enhancer.

Vitamin B12 is one of the most vital vitamins for our cognitive health. It provides neuroprotection, decreases neuropathy, and has anti-aging properties. [*] Methylcobalamin is the most bioavailable version of B12.

Vitamin B6 is another essential vitamin that is important for cellular energy production. Besides, it plays an important role in nerve cell function. [*]

Vitamin B3 (Niacinimide) is probably less essential than the other two B vitamins, but it can still be beneficial. It possesses anti-inflammatory effects, and it works as a neuroprotective agent.  [*]

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid) supports memory, concentration, neurogenesis, and even learning. Calcium Pantothenate is a synthetic form of Vitamin B5, which can improve our cognitive function. [*]

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) is most known for its antioxidant properties. It improves our immune system, and it can also influence our mood. [*]

Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol) has many essential benefits. It works as an antioxidant, it has neuroprotective benefits, and it supports neuronal growth. [*]

Artichoke leaf extract provides a whole range of benefits. It can lower our cholesterol, improve gut health, and it provides antioxidant benefits. It might influence our memory, but we lack studies to prove it. [*]

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid that converts into tyrosine. Tyrosine later converts into dopamine. This amino acid can fight depression and it participates in the production of neurotransmitters. [*] Other anecdotal benefits have not been proven yet.

Caffeine is the most widely used stimulant, and it is a very popular nootropic. It increases our focus, alertness, and energy. It can also improve our mood and motivation. [*]

Qualia Focus dosage

Daily Recommended Dosage

Neurohacker Collective recommends taking five Qualia Focus capsules with water before your breakfast.

However, if taking dietary supplements on an empty stomach does you no good, you can take it with your breakfast. I generally recommend taking all nootropics with or after food to avoid potential side effects.

Do not take more than seven capsules at once, and do not exceed nine capsules per day.

That’s how you should get the most out of this supplement.

Qualia Focus Side Effects

I experienced no adverse side effects during my review period. However, that doesn’t mean there can’t be any.

The most common Qualia Focus side effects are:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain
  • Brain fog

It is sometimes really hard to identify which ingredient causes issues, especially in a supplement that contains 24 nootropics.

Sadly, there are a few underresearched compounds in Qualia Focus that could cause adverse effects. In addition, taking more than 7 capsules per day on an empty stomach may cause nausea or stomach pain.

On the other hand, I know many people who are regularly taking Qualia Focus (Essentials) and have no issues whatsoever.

To be on the safe side, I recommend consulting your doctor before supplementing Qualia Focus.
