People who often feel fatigued and tired lack the motivation to do important things. While many use coffee and energy drinks to increase energy levels, others search for more sustainable solutions that don’t cause energy crashes. One such solution is Performance Lab Energy.

But can this dietary supplement really boost your physical and mental energy? I’ve tried it out for 3 months to find out. Here’s my complete Performance Lab Energy review.

What Is It?

Performance Lab Energy Experience

Performance Lab Energy is a nootropic supplement that offers advanced mitochondrial support for cellular energy and life vitality.

It was developed by OptiNutra, the same company that makes the popular nootropic stack Mind Lab Pro.

This supplement targets mitochondria which is the powerhouse of the cell. It encourages your body to use all kinds of fat in your body (from your food or stored fat) and turn it into a source of fuel.

The result is long-term clean energy without any crashes. And compared to many other nootropics for energy, it contains no stimulants like caffeine or theobromine.

But does Performance Lab Energy work? Do you feel the effects after using it?

What To Search For In An Energy Supplement?

Before I talk about the optimal dosage and potential side effects, let’s think about how a proper energy supplement should look like.

We all know what important it is to have enough energy. Without energy, we are lazy, in a bad mood, and unmotivated, which can lead to extremely low productivity. But if we feel energized, everything else seems easier.

There are many ways to boost energy, and one of the most popular ones is by taking energy supplements. Most such supplements contain a mixture of two compounds – caffeine and l-theanine. Caffeine is an adenosine antagonist, which is why we feel more energized when drinking a cup of coffee. Adenosine is a byproduct of energy production in our power cells.

However, caffeine often causes a huge energy spike followed by a crash, which can be controlled with l-theanine. But there are other ways to boost your mental energy with supplements.

An energy nootropic stack should:

  • Provide clean energy without crashes (like caffeine + l-theanine)
  • Improve a subjective well-being
  • Provide short- and long-term effects
  • Increase ATP production in mitochondria
  • Increase the production of mitochondria
  • Be safe for long-term use
  • Use quality and safe ingredients

Is PL Energy such a supplement? Let’s find out.

My Experience

I decided to test Performance Lab Energy to see its real effects and value. I started the test by taking 2 capsules in the morning. After 3 days, I decided to take additional 2 capsules in the afternoon.

Compared to similar energy boosters, you can immediately feel that Performance Lab Energy contains no stimulants. It also lacks l-theanine or a green tea extract that can boost focus. So it is quite unlike other energy caffeine pills.

Because of that and my experience with similar supplements, I was very skeptical of this supplement’s promised effects. For the first few days, I actually haven’t noticed any effects, not even the placebo.

Performance Lab Energy

However, after about 10 days of taking Performance Lab Energy, I started noticing the first results. I genuinely believe I was more mentally clear, and I had more energy so I could work longer.

Unlike caffeine pills, Performance Lab Energy was developed to provide long-term energy effects, not a short-term energy kick. So if you search for a short-term kick, then choose a cup of coffee or a nootropic supplement containing stimulants. I also recommend drinking Bulletproof Coffee.

But if you want to get long-term benefits, then consider supplementing Performance Lab Energy.

It will help you boost your energy on a cellular basis, resulting in more body and brain energy, mental clarity, and well-being.

It takes longer to get the effects, and the effects are less noticeable, but you will get a sustainable boost of energy without any crashes. This is not a game-changing supplement but more of a support energy stack to your other nootropics.

But before you order Performance Lab Energy, check out the ingredients to understand how this unique supplement works.

Ingredients

Performance Lab Energy’s formula is open-sourced and is suitable for vegans, it is allergen-free, non-GMO, and free of synthetic additives or banned substances.

The formula contains:

  • Magnesium (as NutriGenesis®), 60 mg
  • Acetyl-L-Carnitine, 500 mg
  • Microencapsulated Bio-Enhanced® R-Lipoic Acid, 100 mg
  • Micro active Coenzyme Q10, 100 mg
  • BioPQQ (Pyrroloquinoline quinone ), 10 mg
  • BioPerine® Black Pepper Extract, 2,5 mg

Magnesium

Magnesium is a newly added compound to the Performance Lab Energy formula.

Magnesium is a vital mineral needed to catalyze over 300 reactions in the body, including energy production. [*] Lacking magnesium can lead to low energy levels. Sadly, it is hard to obtain enough magnesium through a diet, so we recommend supplementing it.

Magnesium supports energy levels by:

  1. Stabilizing enzymes that are involved in the ATP process
  2. Regulating insulin and glucose
  3. Enhancing the mitochondrial function

60 mg of magnesium in this stack is a relatively low dosage.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is an amino acid that is naturally produced in the body. It is important for cell energy production, heart and brain function, muscle movement, and other body processes. [*]

L-Carnitine helps fuel mitochondria and produce ATP energy by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. ALCAR works in three steps:

  1. First, it donates acetyl groups to form Acetyl CoA long-chain fatty acids that fuel our cell powerhouses
  2. Second, it helps transport long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria (where they produce ATP energy)
  3. Third, it returns to mitochondrial membranes to be recycled and used again

Besides, ALCAR helps transport toxins out of mitochondria and strengthens mitochondrial membranes.

Most people can get enough ALCAR through a healthy diet, and high dosages of ALCAR can be toxic.

500 mg of Acetyl-L-Carnitine in this supplement which is on the lower spectrum but safer for long-term supplementation.

R-Lipoic Acid

Lipoic acid is a naturally produced compound in the body, responsible for activating enzymes that are essential for carbohydrate metabolism.

R-Lipoic Acid, as a form of lipoic acid, works as a cofactor that is naturally found in mitochondria. It is soluble in water and fat. [*]

R-Lipoic Acid functions as a precursor for the Acetyl CoA, so it is vitally important for optimal mitochondrial function.

In supplement form, it shows great benefits for different forms of oxidation and inflammation. In those terms, it actually protects us against heart diseases, liver diseases, diabetes, and neurological decline associated with aging.

It seems to be most effective when combined with CoQ10, ALCAR, and vitamin C.

The Bio-Enhanced version of R-Lipoic Acid found in Performance Lab Energy is presumed to be more bioavailable than other, non-branded versions.

300-600 mg of R-Lipoic Acid seems to be the most effective and safe dosage, so this supplement should contain a slightly higher dosage.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is a molecule produced in the body, mainly within the inner membrane of cells’ mitochondria. With its energy-promoting functions, it is crucial for ATP energy.[*]

Sadly, its levels are depleted by aging, exercise, or environmental stressors, and that is why supplemental CoQ10 is important.

CoQ10 is most highly concentrated in high-energy organs such as the heart, brain, and muscles.

The mechanism of action of Coenzyme Q10 is:

  • It helps convert energy in foods into ATP cell energy
  • It helps in the formation of new mitochondria
  • It converts into ubiquinol which is a powerful antioxidant

The optimal daily dosage is 90-200 mg.

PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline Quinone)

Pyrroloquinoline Quinone (PQQ) is an antioxidant with its function as a complement to CoQ10’s mitochondrial support. The animal evidence that might apply to humans includes possible benefits to insulin resistance and a growth factor when PQQ is added to the diet over a long time. [*]

(PQQ) is a unique antioxidant related to B-vitamins. It serves as a cofactor for enzymatic reactions that enable cell health and development.

PQQ and CoQ10 work together for mitochondrial support and healthy functioning.

Performance Lab Energy contains 10 mg of PQQ, while the optimal daily intake seems to be 2-40 mg.

Black Pepper Extract (BioPerine)

Piperine is an alkaloid extracted from Black Pepper. It is used to increase the bioavailability and energy metabolism of all other ingredients in Performance Lab Energy. [*]

Side Effects

Performance Lab Energy is promised to be safe for long-term daily use. The dosage of all the ingredients is appropriate according to clinical research made.

I didn’t experience any side effects during my test and review. Based on my research and experience, Performance Lab Energy is a very safe energy supplement.

However, consult your doctor before supplementing with Performance Lab Energy.

Recommended Daily Dosage

It is recommended to take 1-2 capsules of Performance Lab Energy in the morning and 1-2 capsules in the early afternoon.

For the best results, take Performance Lab Energy with healthy fat (like olive oil) or some food. I generally take my daily supplement stack with my breakfast.

You should take Performance Lab Energy pills daily and consistently. With consistent use of Performance Lab Energy, you’ll really get the most out of the product.

Performance Lab Energy is not a typical energy booster, so taking the capsules prior work or a demanding activity won’t give you any noticeable effects.

Verdict

Your Inception partly recommends supplementing Performance Lab Energy. Performance Lab Energy is a good long-term energy booster that lacks short-term effects.

Many would have hoped that Performance Lab Energy would provide a strong short- and long-term energy boost, but it just doesn’t do that.

Most energy supplements boost your short-term memory, while Energy boosts your long-term memory. This is a great supplement if you want to achieve high energy without an energy crash, but for best results, you need to combine it with Performance Lab Caffeine+ and a quality nootropic stack
